I’m so happy to see a few iPhone artists starting to approach us directly via our site contact form, as today’s featured iPhone artist, David Webb, did.
The work above is titled ‘iSpanish Steps’ and here is some background on it, from David’s description on his Flickr stream:
This is my favorite house in the whole city. If only I had a few million. It reminds me of Mexico, where I lived for a couple of years. Painted using iPhone and "Brushes" app.
David was also kind enough to provide us with some background on how he came to doing iPhone art …
After my retirement I took up traditional painting as a hobby and pastime
about four years ago. After learning of the use of the iphone for making
art, I decided to give it a try and found I really enjoyed the medium. This
was in May 2009.
Wow. Now that’s a heck of a nice pastime to have adopted since retiring – and I think it’s amazing to see the quality of work David is producing after just a few months of discovering this new medium.
Here’s another, out of many, of his iPhone artworks that caught my attention:

Wow. I love the shadowing on the wall above and under the stairs. It really give a lazy day kind of feel. I especially like the train image. The colors are very calming. I like that as you get closer to the focal point of the front of the train, there is more detail and contrast. I don’t know much about trains, but I could totally see this image on a shelf in my living room.
