in iPhone Paintings with Brushes

I think there are many reasons why a piece of art may hit home for me.  Sometimes it is the overall power of an image, sometimes it is just the colors, sometimes it is that an image takes me somewhere – to a well-remembered place from the past or even a never-visited place I’d love to go.

Sally Ann La Main’s iPhone artworks do quite a bit of all of that for me.  The image above, for instance, hits me because of its striking colors and kind of quiet beauty – but also takes me back to harsh winters in the North East when I was growing up.

Sally Ann has two Flickr photostreams (links below) – both are full of lovely iPhone work.  Here is just a little slice of her profile:

I am Mother to " drmstx4 " ( see her photostream & profile ). She posts my art for me since I don’t have a computer, nor do I understand any of it. I just learned how to make comments on the iPhone !! So with many thanks to my daughter, I love the iPhone & the Brushes app. I am very much an amatuer artist & want to thank all who have made kind comments on my paintings, it gives me encouragement.

And some more examples of her iPhone art:

That one immediately reminds me of Hemingway’s ‘Old Man and The Sea’.

Sally Ann’s photostreams are full of beautiful images of bodies of water (a subject that always appeals to me) and many of the sea and surf.  This one is just one of many examples …

There are also some great images of animals.  This is a favorite for me and one I think my daughter will appreciate …
