Here’s a little background on this one – entitled just ‘Big’ – from the artist herself, Amy Nelp:
Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a BIG, beautiful canyon just five miles from my home.
Down at the bottom of the canyon is the Gunnison river – big enough for small fishing boats. This canyon wall is about 1 1/2 times the height of the Empire State Building – in other words – - – BIG!!
Ha – you can’t say fairer than that – it sure is big, and stunning as well.
Honestly, I could pick so, so many images from Amy’s Flickr stream (where she is known as Baumysue) – but I had to somehow restrict myself to four for today. So here are three more that I just couldn’t resist:
This one is called ‘Gelsey’ – as the dog was named after the ballerina Gelsey Kirkland. I’m a huge lover of dogs, and have a feeling that my big lovable Lab, who is about as balletic as a dump truck, would have taken a real shine to Gelsey
This one is titled ‘San Marco Piazza – Venice, Italy’ and here’s a little on its inspiration:
Loved all the action and music on the piazza at night. We danced and danced.
I’ve never been to Venice – but I would absolutely like to get to San Marco Piazza sometime now that I’ve seen this.
One last one for today:
The title for this one is ‘Old Gnarly Dancing’. Perfect title.
There are tons more striking and beautiful images in Amy’s stream – including some wonderful ‘tributes’ to other iPhone artists. Whenever you have a moment, go look at Amy’s stream HERE – I would wager you’ll spend a long time there, and enjoy it thoroughly.
