What a gorgeous image.
It’s titled simply ‘Just a Bird’ and it was created by Darlene Twitchell using the Procreate app on iPad. Here’s a little more background on it from the artist herslef:
My friend Kathy announced yesterday on Facebook that it was Draw a Bird Day in the UK yesterday. So, I drew a bird. This is from a photo I took of a bird which landed on a branch outside my office window. I usually miss getting a photo of the vibrantly colored ones so I was happy to catch this guy.
Darlene is an accomplished artist and graphic designer who has just started painting on the iPad – and loves it. She was kind enough to email me and tell me about her first few artworks on the iPad.
Here’s another of Darlene’s first iPad paintings. This one is titled ‘Winery Dog’. I’m always a sucker for images of dogs – and I’m glad to see in Darlene’s About page that she is a Humane Society volunteer and a big animal lover. More on this image and early impressions on painting on the iPad from Darlene:
Here’s another painting I did using the Procreate App on the iPad. I sat on the couch with my reference photo on my iPhone, painting on my iPad. No mess, no set up, no clean up time. While I certainly enjoy actual paints, there is a great appeal to the ease of whipping out the iPad and painting away. I mentioned a while back having an interest in purchasing a pochade box for painting on the go. I think I may have found the perfect pochade, in a completely unexpected package with a shiny Apple on the back.
I look forward to following Darlene’s iPad work. You can take a look at her iPad and traditional art here:
